Step into the journey of pregnancy and parenthood with confidence. Our educational programs let you connect with other parents while you learn about pregnancy, labor, birth, breastfeeding, baby care, safety, and parenting. 

CenteringPregnancy

CenteringPregnancy is prenatal care that includes a one-on-one health check-up with extra time and attention in a group setting. CenteringPregnancy is a way for you to learn and share your experiences with other pregnant women while being involved in your own care. Classes are offered in English and Spanish. Meet the Midwives

Certified nurse midwives (CNMs) provide care for women with low-risk pregnancies at our San Mateo and Redwood City facilities. In this session, you’ll have an opportunity to meet our midwives and ask any questions you may have about the care they provide. Partners are welcome. Members only.

Labor and Delivery Tour

Take a guided tour of our Redwood City Medical Center labor and delivery area. See where your baby will be born and learn about all the resources available to you. No children younger than 12, please. Members only.

Preparing for Childbirth

Practice breathing and relaxation techniques to ease labor and delivery, and understand your options for managing labor. Bring pillows or a mat, as some of the exercises are performed on the floor. Early registration is recommended. Members only.

Breastfeeding

Breastfeeding offers many health benefits for you and your baby. Learn how to position your baby for optimal nursing, how to tell if your baby is getting enough milk, and ways to prevent and overcome common breastfeeding discomforts and challenges. Members only.

Newborn Care

Wouldn’t it be nice if babies came with instruction manuals? In this class, you'll learn about feeding, bathing, and diapering your newborn, as well as when to call the doctor about any concerns. Members only.

Emotional Well-Being in Postpartum and Pregnancy Support Group

Pregnancy and postpartum bring big changes and new challenges, which can lead to anxiety and depression. Join new and expecting moms to learn from each other how to stay emotionally healthy as you transition into this new and important role. This group is open to women in their last trimester or with babies in their first year of life. Babies are welcome! Members only.

Baby and Me Support Group

This drop-in playgroup is designed to provide information and support for new parents. Bring your baby and discuss common issues and topics with other parents. Sessions are facilitated by a health educator and may feature physicians and/or guest speakers. Preregistration not required.

Registration is recommended at 24 weeks for all prenatal classes. Space is limited and not guaranteed. Take these classes during your last trimester of pregnancy. Classes are in English unless otherwise noted.
