Believe it or not, I did not even know that I wanted to be a physician until my second year of college. I am glad that I made the choice I did. I could not imagine any other career. Although I am relatively new to Kaiser, I have really enjoyed my time working here and feel this system provides excellent patient care. I have lived my entire life in Denver, with the exception of four years for college, which were spent at Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri. I completed my medical training at the University of Colorado, including serving as a Chief Resident for The Children’s Hospital of Denver. I am the oldest of four children, and my parents are educators. I was married in 2008 to a Colorado-transplant.
Practicing Pediatrics allows me to get to know my patients, ideally from birth, watch them grow, make a difference in their lives, and help them to reach their goals. The most fulfilling part of my job is getting to know my patients and their families and watching each patient grow and thrive. I try to practice evidence-based medicine. I feel it is important to communicate to patients and families the rationale behind my medical decisions and elicit their questions and concerns. I have a strong interest in children with special needs. Additionally, I whole-heartedly believe in Kaiser’s aim of fostering healthy living. In addition to my time in clinic, I also spend about 1 weekend per month working as a Kaiser Hospitalist, either at St. Joseph’s Hospital or at The Children’s Hospital. Professionally, aside from patient care, I also enjoy teaching medical students both in my office and in the hospital.
I love to be active and outdoors. My husband and I enjoy running, hiking, skiing, cooking, travel, and doting on our golden retriever, Maddie. I try to take some time every day for myself, to help me live a balanced, happy life. I also help lead a support group for female medical professionals.
