Acerca de mí
I grew up in Texas and moved to Denver, Colorado, for my residency and fellowship training. While there I met my wife, who was from Portland. We moved to Portland in 2017 and enjoy the variety of outdoor activities available in the Pacific Northwest. I completed research fellowships in both cognitive behavioral therapy and parent-child relational problems. I went into child psychiatry because I enjoy working with families and hearing people’s stories. I also see young adults as I enjoy helping people transition into adulthood.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
I am a child psychiatrist and focus on specific reasons behind symptoms and issues as a way to better understand why a person maybe is having a certain behavior. I place a lot of emphasis on a person’s environment (home, school, and social to name a few) and ways to improve relationships with others and improve overall healthy behaviors (such as exercise). Learning to identify and express one’s feelings is a developmental process that often can be impacted by various mental health conditions and thus lead to lot of problems such as explosive outburst (among others). I strive to help kids and families overcome these issues and get back on track toward a normal developmental process. I have learned that each family is unique, and understanding the nuance of each family’s story helps me work best with them.

Cómo vivo bien
My wife and I have 3 children. We enjoy spending a day in the mountains, going to a u-pick farm, exploring a state park, or working on a sand castle at the beach. We find that getting outdoors is a nice way to recharge the mind and body. Lastly, as a family we try to catch a few Thorns (local women’s soccer team) games each year.
