Treatment in different areas of care

Kaiser Permanente makes it easy for members travelling out of their area to receive and manage their care.

Our features allow you to:

  • Generate a new medical record number (MRN) for your visiting area online, so you can start your care without having to call the travel line first.
  • Link kp.org accounts for multiple regions so you can access your health information from any of your kp.org accounts.
  • Switch between kp.org accounts seamlessly. You can easily toggle between accounts, instead of having to manually sign in and out.

Please note: Washington isn’t available to add as an area of care at this time. If you’re traveling in Washington outside of the Vancouver / Longview area and are looking to get care, call the Away from Home Travel Line at 1-951-268-39001, (TTY 711) for assistance.

Care Away from Home allows you to access online services and your health information in another Kaiser Permanente service area outside your home area, where you need to get care or have previously received care.
Once you sign into your kp.org account, you can click on “add an area of care” on the top right of the page to start the process of creating a new medical record number (MRN). Then you can access online capabilities like Appointment Center and Message Center on kp.org for your visiting area without having to call the travel line first.

When you sign on to your kp.org account, you will be automatically asked if you want to link accounts, which means that you will be able to easily toggle between accounts.

  • In most cases, you can refill prescriptions in person at a Kaiser Permanente pharmacy. You can also go online to ask for certain refills to be mailed to your travel location.

Medical Records

  • Access to medical records online.

Find Doctors and Locations

  • Search for the nearest doctor’s office and KP medical offices.
