Acerca de mí
I grew up in Beaverton and am proud to be a native Oregonian (and in fact, am descended from Oregon Trail pioneers). I attended Westview High School and then Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington, where I studied biochemistry and biophysics and discovered my love of science, which led me to pursue a PhD in genetics. I spent the next five years at Stanford University, where I cherished the opportunity to delve into basic science research, focusing my time on discovering genes that are responsible for pigmentation differences in mammals. I also realized, however, that the most rewarding career would be found in the combination of science and medicine and decided to attend medical school after completing my graduate degree. I moved to Atlanta, Georgia, to attend Emory University. While there I made the decision to pursue family medicine and to return to Oregon to train at Oregon Health & Science University.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
I am honored to be a family medicine residency faculty member within Kaiser Permanente — and to have the opportunity to care for patients in the community in which I was raised. Family medicine allows me to form relationships with families and to treat patients of all ages. I have an interest in caring for pregnant patients and delivering babies, as well as caring for families in the postpartum period and beyond. I enjoy pediatrics and women's health as well as preventive health and promotion of a healthy lifestyle. I also have an interest in working with families or individuals with genetic differences and working to ensure these individuals receive excellent primary care. I am thrilled to work with residents, and to assist in training the next generation of primary care physicians.
Cómo vivo bien
I thrive by finding time to enjoy the company of others. More specifically, spending time with my husband and three young sons is crucial. Skiing is a big part of our family culture (I enjoy embarrassing my older sons in the terrain park), and as a family we also enjoy soccer, cheering for the Blazers, reading, and traveling. To recharge myself and maintain balance, I enjoy running, spending time with my friends or family, making sure I get enough sleep, and savoring my morning coffee!
