Hello, and welcome to my Web page. Below you will find out a little about my background, interests, and how I approach the practice of family medicine.
I grew up in several states along the East Coast. After receiving my osteopathic medical degree in West Virginia, I went into private practice in the Pittsburgh, PA area where I performed both outpatient and hospital medicine. I then made a significant life transition by joining the U,S. Air Force as a family physician and flight surgeon. I served all over the world providing medical care to our military members and families. I transitioned back to civilian medicine and am happy to be a part of the Kaiser Permanente team.
I believe the practice of medicine takes a team approach made up of physicians, nurses, and administrative staff all focusing on the patient (the “core” of the team). As such, I believe people should be active and responsible participants in their health care. I take a proactive approach to the care of our members, which starts with prevention of disease. I manage a wide variety of conditions and diseases, and approach each one from the osteopathic tenets of health in mind, body, and spirit. I have particular interests in sports medicine, musculoskeletal conditions, men’s health, and preventive medicine.
I participate in some form of exercise daily, such as weightlifting, tennis, Insanity, P90X or hiking. I love to snow ski (which spoiled me growing up in the Northeastern U.S.). I’m careful to alternate my routine to avoid injury. I eat a well-balanced diet, preferring to eat whole foods. To relax, I enjoy cooking and listening to various types of music. My faith allows me to manage life's challenges. I get my greatest enjoyment by spending quality time with my family and friends.
