Acerca de mí
Thank you for taking the time to visit my Web page. I practice female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery (also known as urogynecology). I appreciate the opportunity to tell you a little bit about who I am and how I can help you as a member of your Kaiser Permanente health care team.
I’m often asked how I chose this field of medicine. This question usually comes when I am asking a patient to demonstrate urinary leakage for me and is said with a chuckle. While not many people think the work I do is glamorous or appealing, I find this profession to be rewarding because of the difference I can make in quality of life for members. Many women are uncomfortable discussing their pelvic floor disorders because of the prevailing associated social taboos. My goal is to help women reach a better understanding of their own bodies while navigating them through treatment options.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
Ours was the first urogynecology clinic in the Kaiser Permanente health care organization. Our clinic staff have a strong academic background, and we’ve participated in 2 programs sponsored by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) that were developed to advance the care of women with pelvic floor disorders. In addition, the clinic shares with UC San Diego one of the few board-approved fellowship programs in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery in California, and I myself was a fellow here. I practiced in New York City until I jumped at the opportunity to come back and rejoin this amazing team. Our clinical staff has many years of experience caring for women with pelvic floor disorders, so please let us know your concerns and never hesitate to discuss your issues with us, no matter how embarrassing you may think they are.
Cómo vivo bien
I live well through exercising, whether it’s running along the boardwalk, spinning, or going for a hike with my husband (which is how we met). I also love to cook (especially for others) and travel as much as I possibly can.
