I was born in Connecticut into a military family. My father’s career as a U.S. Navy submarine commander took us to faraway bases, including Hawaii, which was always my favorite place to be. My father has been an inspiration to me throughout my life, modeling hard work, integrity, and gratitude for our many blessings.
I graduated from Punahou School and then got my undergraduate degree from the University of Hawaii. I then moved to Washington, D.C. to attend George Washington University, where I received my master’s degree in health sciences and my physician assistant certification. My husband and I always wanted to move back to Hawaii, and we were overjoyed when the opportunity to do that came our way.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
I’ve always had an interest in health care professions. I like the idea of being in a position to help people in a meaningful way while also feeling challenged by my work. I particularly enjoy the variety of cases and situations that I encounter in family medicine.
To stay up-to-date in medicine, I read professional journals, participate in continuing medical education programs, and take every opportunity to interact with my colleagues, which is always enlightening. I’m also a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, which provides numerous opportunities for personal and professional growth.
I wanted to work at the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group because it’s the largest medical group on Oahu and because it is well-regarded both in the local community and nationally. I’m able to collaborate with experts in virtually every medical specialty, and we’re all working together for the good of our patients. It’s a pleasure to experience that camaraderie and support among physicians and other providers.
I strive to treat every patient with sensitivity and respect. Listening closely to them allows me to better understand their concerns and to address their needs in the most efficient and professional way possible. It makes me happy to see patients following through with health care goals that we’ve set together and to see the improvement in their health status.

Spending time with my family helps to keep me balanced and focused on the most important things in life. Exercising every day, whether hiking or swimming, helps keep me physically healthy, and traveling helps to keep me mentally stimulated.
