Acerca de mí
I was born and raised in Michigan, where I attended Luke M. Powers Catholic High School. My bachelor’s degree is from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor and my medical degree is from Wayne State University in Detroit. I stayed at Wayne State to do a general surgery internship and then did a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan, also in Detroit, where I was chief resident. I’m board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation and a fellow of the American Association of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. On my first trip to Hawaii I fell in love with the islands and feel so fortunate to call this beautiful place my home.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
My uncle, a cardiologist, passed away from brain cancer. He was the first person to spark my interest in a medical career. I was further inspired to become a doctor when I did volunteer work at the C.S. Mott Children's Hospital at the University of Michigan.
In my third year of medical school I did a rotation in occupational medicine, which I enjoyed immensely and ultimately chose for my specialty. My professional interests within my field include ultrasound-guided injections, fluoroscopic-guided injections, and musculoskeletal medicine.
To keep up with the most current medical research, I read medical journals, access online resources, confer with colleagues both within and outside of my specialty, and participate in continuing medical education programs. I’m also exposed to the latest developments in my field through my professional organizations, the American Association of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the Hawaii Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
A former colleague who was practicing at Kaiser Permanente once told me that this was a wonderful place to work. I met with the physicians in the occupational medicine department and felt certain that this was where I wanted to be. After a number of years in private practice it was a pleasure to be among a group of experts who were always eager to provide consultations.
My goal is to provide compassionate, high-quality care by working in partnership with my patients. Understanding their needs and concerns, watching their progress, and seeing their livelihoods restored are very rewarding experiences.
Cómo vivo bien
Regular exercise and healthy eating help to keep me in shape. I also enjoy hiking and stand-up paddleboarding. To recharge for the week ahead, I spend quality time with family and friends, play dance video games and the trumpet, and cook.
