I was born and raised in Illinois. My mom is originally from Hawaii and we were lucky enough to spend time here during the summers. I feel fortunate to now call Hawaii my home. My parents encouraged me to dream big from a young age and believed I could accomplish whatever I set my mind to. They influenced me to find a profession that would inspire and challenge me.
Orthopedic surgery was one of the first clinical rotations I did during medical school. I was lucky enough to find good mentors who were excited about their chosen field of practice and encouraged me along my path. I truly enjoy the way in which our doctors collaborate and can provide for all aspects of patient care. I try to be present for each person. In our encounters I strive for authentic communication and efficiency in care. Some of my favorite patient interactions involve the small ways in which patients brighten my day. I hope they leave our encounter feeling like they were heard, but also that they have a better understanding of their condition and treatment plan. I keep up with the most up-to-date medical research through journals and attending conferences. I am a diplomat of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, member of American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and a candidate member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand.
I think it is really important to make caring for yourself a priority so that you can be at your best physically and mentally. For me, this means finding inspiring activities and people. These positive influences challenge me to be a better person. I can often be found at Maui Hot Yoga and Kickboxing Studio where I practice and teach hot yoga. This year one of my goals is working on yoga while on a stand-up paddleboard.
