Acerca de mí
I was born in Honolulu, Hawaii and raised in Kailua. As a youngster, I thought that medicine would be a “cool” job to go into. Helping people and saving lives seemed like something a superhero could do; what kid doesn’t want to have supernatural powers? As I went through my training I found that being a doctor is more than just “cool”, it is an honor and a privilege to treat my patients.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
During my fellowship I was attracted to the intellectual mission of answering the unanswered questions in obstetrics. The mystery as well as the challenges involved were difficult at times, but the sense of accomplishment kept me going and led me to where I am today in obstetrics and gynecology (Ob/Gyn) medicine. As the chief of staff at Moanalua Medical Center and former chief of the Ob/Gyn department, I believe that it is all about the patients. I strive to increase patient convenience and satisfaction, while providing the best care possible. I am also honored that my younger sister Dr. Eileen Ogasawara-Chun followed in my footsteps and is an Ob/Gyn physician at Kaiser Permanente as well. Within the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group, I have the freedom to practice patient centered medicine as well as medicine based on evidence, without having to deal with the business aspects of health care. I also enjoy the professional interactions I have with my colleagues and cherish the opportunity to improve the quality of women's care for our Kaiser Permanente members. I am also a fellow of the Pacific Coast Obstetrical and Gynecological Society.
Cómo vivo bien
I stay healthy by walking my dogs and participating in resistance training on a regular basis. When I’m not in the clinic, I enjoy spending time with my family, especially my kids. I also love to ride dirt bikes and work on anything with an internal combustion engine.
