I was born in Honolulu and grew up in Aiea. I have always had a love of science and a curiosity about the human body. In middle school, I witnessed an emergency medical services team arrive at my school to tend to an eighth grader who fell off the second floor, and this inspired me to pursue a career in medicine. I graduated from the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine and did my Internal Medicine-Pediatrics residency in Los Angeles at the LAC+USC Healthcare Network. I am thankful for my mother who has supported me in my career path.
I chose to specialize in internal medicine and pediatrics because I wanted to be able to provide acute care to patients of all ages. In an acute care setting, patients and their families often feel they are engaged in a fight for life – for themselves, or for their family members. My job is to help make that fight easier. It is very gratifying to assist patients in their path to recovery. To connect with my patients, I try to learn more about their lives. I always come into the room with a smile on my face and I try to keep an optimistic attitude. I believe that life is short, and each of us should strive to be as healthy as possible in order to live the life we desire. I also enjoy working at the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group because of my colleagues who provide a great support system.
In my spare time, I try to be as stress-free as possible, and relax by reading, watching movies, doing archery, and spending time with family. I also try to do an outdoor activity every week, and especially I love basketball, archery, hiking, and going for walks.
