Acerca de mí
I was born and raised in Laie on the North Shore of Oahu. I received my Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the A.T. Still University School of Medicine in Arizona and did my residency in the Utah Valley Family Medicine Residency Program. Having the opportunity to return home to Hawaii to serve the people of my community as a physician is a blessing for which I’m very grateful.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
While growing up in Hawaii, my interests were primarily sports and surfing. In college, I found that I wanted a challenging career involving science that would also allow me to work closely with people, serve others, and remain engaged in lifelong learning. Medicine would provide all of that. I decided to become a family medicine physician because I loved the idea of being equipped with the knowledge and skills to treat patients of any age. I hope to make a positive impact on the health of multiple generations of families, from keiki to kupuna.
To stay current with the latest medical research and treatment recommendations, I read professional journals, attend medical conferences, take continuing education courses, and consult my colleagues. My professional organizations, the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American Osteopathic Association, also provide access to the latest developments.
I decided to become a part of the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group (HPMG) because I believed it was on the leading edge of advances in medicine. HPMG is a well-organized, modern practice that puts patients first and views their health and satisfaction as its most important goals.
I strive to treat my patients with compassion and aloha like I would my own ohana. I believe in an approach to treating patients that takes into account all aspects of the patient’s health—physical, mental, and spiritual. Patients know themselves best, and it’s my role to empower and inspire them to play an active role in their health care. When I’m with patients I look forward to hearing about and learning from their own life experiences.
Cómo vivo bien
To stay healthy in body and spirit, I stay active in my community and church and spend as much quality time as possible time with my wife and four children, who keep me busy when I'm not in the clinic. When I find time for myself, I enjoy surfing, basketball, golf, weight training, and hiking.
