Acerca de mí
Born and raised in Southern California, I earned my undergraduate degree from the University California, Irvine. Throughout the years I was fortunate to be able to visit Hawaii many times, but I never thought I’d be lucky enough to live here. When I married my husband, who is from Hawaii, I was finally able to call these beautiful islands my home.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
I completed my master’s degree in physician assistant studies at Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California. I’m a fellow of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Hawaii Academy of Physician Assistants. To stay current on developments in the medical field, I attend professional conferences, participate in continuing medical education activities, and subscribe to medical journals. In addition to English, I speak some Vietnamese. I joined the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group (HPMG) because of the opportunity to be part of a great group of dedicated professionals. HPMG uses a team approach that centers on the patient, largely by investing time in taking preventive measures. Everyone who works here — from the administrative staff to the providers and specialists — share a common goal of delivering high-quality medical care, and this is central to my own philosophy. My approach to caring for patients is to take proactive steps to treat illnesses and then to keep them healthy. In part I do this by considering the well-being of the person as a whole, including body, mind, and spirit. It’s rewarding to educate my patients about their conditions, thereby empowering them to better advocate for and manage their own health. In my experience, meaningful connections can form in even the briefest encounters, and I look for ways to make that happen, whether by sharing a new recipe or new place to hike, or just talking story.
Cómo vivo bien
Every few months I try to develop a new skill or interest in order to keep my mind sharp. I exercise several times a week on the treadmill, the elliptical, or the rowing machine. I also enjoy long walks outside and jogging, because they remind me of my good fortune to be living in Hawaii. Spending quality time with my family and friends, attending musicals and concerts, reading good books, cooking, and trying new cuisines help me to live well.
