Acerca de mí
I was born at Kaiser Permanente Hawaii’s original hospital, Ala Moana Medical Center, which was relocated to Moanalua in 1985. My family has always been my source of support. I’m especially appreciative of my parents for their encouragement throughout my educational career, from Iolani School to UC San Diego, and back home again at the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
I was inspired to become a doctor by my grandfather who was a dentist. Despite a lineage of dentistry in my family (my father and two brothers are also dentists), my grandfather suggested that I use my skills to improve the overall health of patients. I’m grateful for his advice because practicing internal medicine is quite fulfilling. The variety of work and everyday challenges drive my determination to help my patients lead healthier lives. I enjoy the collaboration between the various departments and services within the Hawaii Permanente Medical Group. The prevalent attitude of teamwork among my dedicated fellow physicians and the friendly staff in my clinic contributes to the quality care my patients receive. I like to build connections with my patients while being there for them in times of need. I believe that every patient is different and requires an individualized treatment plan. I also cherish my patients who enjoy some humor in their lives. I also teach third year medical students about the strategies behind “Problem-Based Learning.”
Cómo vivo bien
I have an affinity for music and like to play the cello, piano and ukulele. I enjoy spending time with my wife and three kids, who make my life very rewarding. I keep active by playing basketball and chasing around my children.
