Hello and welcome to my Web page. I would like to start off by saying that I am fortunate to be a part of the Kaiser Permanente family as a physician. On this page, I am happy to share a little bit about myself.
I am originally from Armenia and grew up in Los Angeles after immigrating here in 1989. I decided to become a physician shortly after I started my undergraduate studies at the University of Southern California. I'm sure you are aware that the road to becoming a physician was long and difficult, however I now feel blessed to have chosen a career where I can be a positive difference in my community. For medical school I attended Touro University of Osteopathic Medicine in Nevada, and returned to California to complete my residency in internal medicine at Los Angeles County + USC Medical Center. Since then, I have been in my current position as an attending physician at Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center. I married my beautiful wife, in 2005 and together we have two boys. Our family is very active and we always try to find time for sports, traveling, and educational activities.
I am a hospitalist, which means I care for members who have been admitted to the hospital. I also am a clinical instructor at the UCLA School of Medicine, and my job involves teaching and supervising residents and medical students from both UCLA and USC. I enjoy every aspect of my job and feel the different responsibilities help keep my medical knowledge very up to date.
I believe in a well-balanced life and try to keep both my mind and body as healthy as I can. Outside of work I stay active by routinely working out at the gym, hiking and swimming. I also keep my mind sharp by reading books, online journals, and magazines, and I occasionally play chess with friends and family.
