Welcome! Thank you for stopping by my Web page and for the opportunity to tell you a little bit about myself. Hopefully this information will help you get to know me, my practice, and why I am excited to be a physician at Kaiser Permanente.
I am originally from Houston. Growing up, I volunteered with the American Red Cross, which is what led to my love for serving others and practicing medicine. I attended medical school in Houston but came to San Diego as quickly as I could. During my residency at UC San Diego, I found my true calling was in palliative medicine. Therefore, after residency I left to complete a fellowship in hospice and palliative medicine before coming back to practice in San Diego. I enjoy working with individuals who have serious illnesses to help them understand their illness, control their symptoms, and navigate the complex medical issues to live their best life. I also volunteer as a mentor for physicians-in-training to share my perspectives and pass on that joy of serving others.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
As a palliative care physician on the continuing care service, I have the opportunity to care for members in the hospital and at skilled nursing facilities. It is my privilege to spend time getting to know members, their families, and their life stories to build a respectful and trusting relationship. Dealing with a serious illness is life changing and requires someone who knows you as more than just a name on a chart. I have found that by working together and sharing our perspectives, we can control troublesome symptoms, achieve many short- and long-term goals, and ensure that any medical path we walk down respects each member as a whole person.
Cómo vivo bien
Keeping a healthy body and mind is extremely important to me. I enjoy running, hiking, rock climbing, and camping to stay physically active. I am about halfway to my goal of visiting every US National Park. Outside of work, I try to keep a balanced mind through reading, spending time with friends, and various activities that promote mindfulness.
