Acerca de mí
Hello! Thank you for visiting my Web page. I look forward to the opportunity and privilege of taking care of you at Kaiser Permanente’s San Diego Medical Center.
I was born and raised in Southern California. For college, I attended UCLA and graduated with a degree in neuroscience. I then attended the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland for medical school. My neurosurgical residency was completed at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. During residency, I had also completed a master’s in public health at the University of Texas Health Science Center School of Public Health, with a focus on cost-effectiveness and quality improvement in healthcare. To build on the training I received in Houston and further my interest in spine surgery, I pursued a fellowship in complex and minimally invasive spine surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. My fellowship training was under the guidance of both orthopedic spine and neurosurgery spine surgeons. After my fellowship training, I returned to Houston to begin my neurosurgical practice with the program I trained with. Growing up in Southern California, I had always been familiar with the Kaiser Permanente system. In fact, prior to starting my medical career, I was a Kaiser Permanente member as well. I am fortunate to have the opportunity to join Kaiser Permanente in San Diego. I was drawn toward Kaiser Permanente because of its team approach to providing high-quality care for its members.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
My practice includes the full spectrum of spine disorders, including degenerative diseases, adult deformity, trauma, and oncology. Regarding managing degenerative spine disorders, I emphasize with members the importance of conservative (nonsurgical) intervention prior to considering surgery. If conservative measures fail and surgery is required, my practice is to provide the least amount of surgery that can provide the most benefit. In addition, I favor motion-preserving spine surgeries such as artificial disc replacements over fusions whenever possible. I also have an interest in treating intracranial disorders, including intracranial oncologic diseases and traumatic brain injuries.

Living a balanced life is very important to me. Despite my busy routine schedule, I find time to exercise, travel, and spend time with family and friends. I am fortunate to live and work in San Diego, where the beautiful weather and endless outdoor activities help me thrive.
