Hello, and welcome to my Web page! I am honored to serve as a Kaiser Permanente physician, and I strive to provide high-quality service to all our members.
I became a physician because I have always been interested in science and helping people. Advances in technology are rapidly changing the practice of medicine and genetics. I received my medical degree and a Ph.D. in molecular biology at the University of Pennsylvania. I completed a residency in pediatrics and my clinical training in genetics at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Prior to working at Kaiser Permanente, I also did basic science research in genetics at UC Irvine. My dual training as a physician and basic scientist has helped me integrate new developments in genetic testing and treatment into my clinical practice.
I am the medical director of the Southern California Kaiser Permanente Craniofacial Team. The Craniofacial Team cares for members with craniofacial disorders such as cleft lip and/or palate, hemifacial microsomia, microtia, micrognathia, craniosynostosis, velopharyngeal incompetence, and craniofacial syndromes (Apert, Crouzon, and others). The Craniofacial Team travels to Kaiser Permanente facilities all over Southern California to provide continuing care to our patients. I am also the medical geneticist for the Kaiser Permanente Orange County area. In this role, I see a wide variety of patients, including infants, children, and adults with various genetic and metabolic disorders. I work with a very talented team of genetic counselors who also see patients.
When I'm not working, I spend as much time as possible with my family. I volunteer as a youth soccer coach. For exercise, I swim at least twice a week. I enjoy cooking and eating healthy foods.
