Welcome to my Web page. Thank you for the chance to introduce myself, and share a bit about my practice. Since 2003, I have practiced general ophthalmology with specialization in cornea/external disease and refractive surgery at Kaiser Baldwin Park. I feel very fortunate to work at Kaiser Permanente with wonderful colleagues and members, and look forward to partnering with you to care for your vision.
I grew up in Charleston, West Virginia. After high school, I left West Virginia to attend college at Carnegie Mellon University. At CMU, I studied computer science, applied mathematics, and industrial management. In my third year, I realized medicine was my calling, so I completed my degree and applied to medical school. I attended medical school at West Virginia University, and did my residency in ophthalmology at Montefiore Medical Center - Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City. I came to Los Angeles to complete a fellowship at the University of Southern California Doheny Eye Institute in cornea/external disease and refractive surgery.
Ophthalmology is a very special opportunity to help people in a meaningful way. I utilize both medical and surgical knowledge as well as listening skills to hear and understand what members need to care for their eyes. I feel very honored that members have entrusted me with their care and I strive to treat them as I would my own family.
Being active is an important part of my life. I enjoy Pilates, cardio-barre, walking and hiking, swimming, and weight training. A fun part of my weekly routine is doing grocery shopping at the farmers market in my neighborhood. It is a great way to enjoy local produce, and sample new fruits and vegetables. I also take pleasure in cooking for my family and friends with produce from my garden.
