Hello, and welcome to my Web page. I am happy to have this chance to introduce myself and tell you about my work. I was born and spent my early life in Myanmar. Since moving to California, I have enjoyed life in this sunny, warm climate and the variety of wonderful cuisines that we can find in our diverse community.
I earned my medical degree from the Institute of Medicine in Myanmar, and completed my residency in internal medicine at Mount Sinai School of Medicine-Elmhurst Hospital Center in Elmhurst, New York. I then completed my fellowship in infectious diseases at Medical University of South Carolina School of Medicine, and am board certified in both infectious disease and internal medicine. Additionally, I am certified as an HIV specialist by the American Academy of HIV Medicine. After completing my fellowship in the study of infectious diseases, I continued my studies at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine to learn more about tropical medicine. I believe the world has become a big village; diseases in other parts of the world can be moved to the U.S. from returning travelers.
I was led to the study of infectious diseases through experiences with patients battling preventable infections during medical school. I was influenced to devote my work to this specialty, as I enjoy making diagnoses by reviewing the whole body system instead of concentrating on one issue. I see patients in both the hospital and in clinic settings, and manage general infectious diseases including HIV, hepatitis C, and hepatitis B. I strive to treat my patients as I would my own family. By customizing treatment plans with individual needs in mind, I find improved communication between myself and the patients I care for. I work to always stay updated and knowledgeable to best serve our members.
Watching a good movie or reading a good book is a way to relax for me at the end of the day. I also enjoy meditation and stretching exercises, which helps me to recharge and clear my mind. Spending time with family and seeking advice from my father helps me when there are difficult decisions to be made.
