Hi, my name is So Onishi. Thanks for visiting my Web page. I am an emergency medicine physician practicing in the San Diego area. I am committed to providing high-quality of care to members in the Emergency Department as they face some of the most challenging moments in their lives. Getting to personally know each member is important to me. I hope you can also get to know me and my practice by visiting this Web page.
My interest in emergency medicine started in college when I volunteered as an emergency medical technician (EMT) for the Central Park Medical Unit in New York City. I was drawn to the fast-paced environment of caring for critically ill patients and the teamwork approach to patient care. I attended the Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia and trained as part of the inaugural class of the emergency medicine residency program at Kaiser Permanente in San Diego. I am proud to practice emergency medicine at Kaiser Permanente and believe in its mission to provide high-quality care to its members through its team approach.
Naturally, as an emergency physician, I do not have a group of members I see regularly. But my goal during every shift is to take ownership of each member that I see in the Emergency Department. I strive to practice medicine with the best interest of members in mind. I work with amazing colleagues in a multispecialty-based practice. I will work hard to be a champion for members and to provide smooth, coordinated care for each member, which is the hallmark of Kaiser Permanente.
I find my life’s purpose in my role not only as a physician at work but also in my role at home as a husband and a father. I am excited to call San Diego my home, where our family enjoys so much of what this city has to offer. We enjoy spending time with family and friends, whether it is at home, at kids’ soccer games, or at the beach. Working in the Emergency Department, I am reminded every day of how precious each moment that we have to spend time with the people we care is. It is my personal mission to make every moment a “quality” moment, and this keeps me living well every day.
