Acerca de mí
Welcome to my Web page. I'm happy to have this chance to introduce myself to you and tell you about my practice. I feel very fortunate to work at Kaiser Permanente because of my wonderful colleagues and patients, and look forward to working with you to care for your health.
I moved from Toronto to Los Angeles to do my residency in psychiatry at the Sepulveda and UCLA Veterans Administration Hospital, but I fell in love with the sunny weather and made Southern California my home for good. My wife and I have raised our family here, and all four of our children are graduates of University of California schools. I am dedicated to the delivery of quality care. I am member of the American Psychiatric Association and have earned the honor of being a distinguished life fellow. I am also a delegate to California Medical Association and American Medical Association. Presently, I am on the board of directors of Mission City Community Health Network and the Los Angeles Physicians Aid Association. These outside activities allow me to be an advocate for improving the delivery and quality of care to all communities.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
I have always been interested in how the brain works. To this end, I believe it is important to bring a balance to the treatment of people who have psychological problems and symptoms. Given the combination of learned and psychological influences on the physiology of the brain, my treatment approach stresses that there is no medicine that is able to change how we think or behave. Change involves the recognition of our unhealthy patterns and making a conscious attempt to change them. Medication, in psychiatry as in all areas of medicine, can help alleviate the symptoms. I am influenced by the theories of emotional intelligence and the modern understanding of brain function, as demonstrated in modern technologies such as PET scans.

Keeping balance in my life is very important. Enjoying myself physically and intellectually is critical, as is nurturing harmony between family and work. Relaxation, spirituality, faith, and hope are essential to attaining these goals. I enjoy board games, crosswords, going to the gym, playing tennis, and seeing a good play, especially a musical or an opera. As Sigmund Freud said, work and love are what makes a human fulfilled.
