Welcome to my Web page! I'm glad to have this opportunity to share a little bit about me with you.
I grew up in a small town in Ohio called Yellow Springs. I received my bachelor's degree in biology from Cornell University and then, after four years in upstate New York, decided to move to the West Coast. I attended medical school at Stanford University and completed my residency in anesthesia at UC San Diego. I am blessed with two beautiful daughters, three amazing stepchildren, and a wife who also happens to be my best friend.
After completing my residency, I worked at several local private hospitals and surgery centers throughout the Inland Empire. While working in private practice, I became more and more attracted to the Kaiser Permanente approach to health care. I made a promise early on in my career to treat every patient like I would my family. I feel blessed to be with an organization that supports and fosters that goal. I am the Assistant Chief for the Department of Anesthesia, in charge of overseeing our department at the Ontario Medical Center. I am also the Physician Director of our award-winning Ontario Vineyard Ambulatory Surgery Center (OVASC), and Physician Director for Surgical Services for OMC. It has been a great honor and a rather humbling experience to be given the opportunity to be involved in the leadership of such a world class organization, and to work with staff who are as dedicated as I am to providing high quality, patient-focused, affordable care.
My greatest joy, and what keeps me balanced, is spending time with my children. In addition, my wife and I love to scuba dive (though we don't get the chance that often). And the whole family loves the outdoors. We recently moved to Norco and we are trying to learn to be farmers! It's been quite an experiment. Our greatest disappointment has been having our vegetables regularly eaten by all the local pests. We have done much better at raising chickens. Our philosophy on staying well is summed up by the following motto, "Live in the present. Take it all in. Breathe. Then leap. And the net will appear."
