Welcome to my Web page. I am pleased to have this chance to tell you about my work as a physician at Kaiser Permanente. I trained in family medicine and have practiced for more than 20 years in a variety of settings. When I joined Kaiser Permanente in 2001, I worked as a physician manager in the Urgent Care Department. For the last five years I have worked in the inpatient setting as a palliative care consulting physician.
I am a native Californian, born and raised in San Diego. I moved to Kern County for my family practice residency training in 1984 and fell in love with the area. I have worked in many settings in my medical career, including private family practice, teaching in a post-graduate medical residency program, outpatient clinical work in family medicine practice, pediatrics, women's health, urgent care, as well as inpatient hospital work. I have been happiest working for Kaiser Permanente and truly believe that the integrated care model used here is the best.
I recently completed my board certification in palliative & hospice medicine and now work in the inpatient setting as a palliative physician. I work with a team of dedicated professionals to help members and their families understand their disease processes, as well as identify care goals. I also provide oversight to home hospice members. I feel very honored that members have entrusted me with their care and strive to treat them as I would my own family.
Keeping balance in my work and home life is very important to me. My three children are all living away from home now, pursuing their educations. I like to travel and enjoy theater, museums, and visiting friends. I make it a priority to set aside time to just relax or read a good novel.
