Acerca de mí
Welcome to my Web page. It is a great pleasure to have this opportunity to introduce myself to you and tell you about my work as a physician and as a physician administrator at Kaiser Permanente. I am an obstetrician, gynecologist, and reproductive endocrinologist who trained at USC, UC San Diego, and Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. I have practiced for more than 20 years at Bellflower/Downey Medical Center. It has been very rewarding taking care of my patients at Bellflower, and I feel fortunate to be able to work at Kaiser Permanente both as a clinician and an administrator. My goal is to make our organization the best health care delivery system in the nation.
Graduating from the medical school at the American University of Beirut in Lebanon, I was selected as a Ford Foundation Fellow in reproductive endocrinology at USC. I was recruited to join Dr. Sam Yen, a leading scientist and one of the most prominent reproductive endocrinologists at the time. When I joined Kaiser Permanente, I assumed early leadership roles. I was appointed assistant chief of the department, became chief, and then was promoted to assistant area medical director in 2006, a post I hold at the present time. Apart from my work at the medical center, my family and I have participated in many humanitarian, fund- raising efforts, the most recent of which raised $325,000 for building a community center.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
I consider medicine to be a noble career, offering me a unique opportunity to connect and help my fellow citizens in a meaningful way. In addition to utilizing medical knowledge and skill to prevent disease and treat illness when it occurs, medicine is an art of attentive listening and responding to patients' needs in a compassionate and caring way. I feel honored when patients entrust me with their care, and I strive to treat them as I would my own family. It's also my responsibility to facilitate getting my patients the right evaluations in a timely manner and generally to help them get the best possible care. Communicating this process to my patients and their families and respecting their confidentiality is a top priority for me.
Cómo vivo bien
I try to lead a healthy life, which includes eating healthy (and cheating at times!), exercising regularly, and enjoying our beautiful Southern California area. I play tennis twice a week, and visit the gym two to three times a week. I am blessed with a loving and caring family. My wife, two sons, and I are involved in many community service events individually and together as a family. I enjoy family outings to theatre, tennis tournaments, basketball games, and museums, and take full advantage of the many activities available in our area. I value these precious opportunities for strengthening family ties and learning more about each other.
