Welcome. Thank you for taking the time to visit my Web page to learn more about my practice as a hospitalist at Kaiser Permanente’s Downey Medical Center. If you’re hospitalized, I look forward to working with you to care for your health.
My journey to becoming a physician has been an interesting one. I was born in Mexico and lived there for several years before coming to the United States to pursue my higher education. I lived in Oakland for most of my life. After high school, I attended and graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in molecular and cell biology. I then moved to Philadelphia, where I completed my medical education at Temple University. I completed my residency at USC.
I’m a hospitalist, which means I take care of patients who are in the hospital. Being a hospitalist has given me a very special opportunity to connect with and help people, not just with my medical training, but also by listening and responding to what they need. It’s a privilege to educate and help my patients address what concerns them and translate into understandable language what they may not grasp at first. I feel honored that they put their trust in me for their care, and I strive to treat them as I would my own family.
Keeping balance in my life is very important to me. I’m an avid runner, but I also have a particular interest in weight training. Aside from exercise, I’m interested in nutrition and educating myself on organic food sources. I’ve begun to practice de-stressing techniques, such as yoga and meditation, in an effort to achieve mind, body, and spiritual healthiness.
