Hello, and welcome to my Web page! I appreciate this opportunity to share my credentials and affiliations with you. Hopefully this information will give you a better idea of who I am.
I am originally from the East Coast, born in Philadelphia and raised in northern New Jersey. My father, an internist, moved our family to a warmer climate in Tucson, Arizona, where I completed high school and went to college at the University of Arizona. After receiving my bachelor's degree in chemistry, I went back to the East Coast and completed medical school at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. Then I returned to the West Coast and completed my internship and residency in Southern California in the UC Irvine/Long Beach Memorial/Veterans Administration Medical Center Long Beach program. I completed this training in 1990 and immediately wanted to join Kaiser Permanente. I have been with our organization ever since. I was based at Woodland Hills Medical Center from 1990 to 1997, then came to the Kaiser Permanente Baldwin Park Medical Center.
Medicine is a very rewarding occupation. Every day brings new challenges and opportunities as well as unforgettable experiences. I am a board-certified anatomic and clinical pathologist. I also serve as the chief of my department. We are a department of four dedicated, well-trained pathologists. We are also responsible for running and overseeing our clinical laboratories in the San Gabriel Valley. I also serve as one of the regional chairmen for Kaiser Permanente Southern California's Regional Lab Operations Committee, and I have an interest in the service and education aspects of the laboratory. Helping other medical centers with their workloads and when they are short-staffed is also an interest and passion of mine. Our pathologists truly work together as a cohesive group.
I try to stay active. I try to do exercises, including walking and a light run, daily. Although working here at Baldwin Park is a passion for me, the most important thing in my life is my family. My loving wife is a neurologist who works occasionally at Kaiser Permanente and has an outside practice. We have two daughters. My family has strong family ties to both Tucson and Montreal, Canada. Spending all the time we can with family helps us thrive.
