Hello, and welcome to my Web page. My name is Rick Pantarotto, and I have worked at Kaiser Permanente for 22 years: the first 15 at the Kaiser Permanente Escondido Medical Offices and the last seven here at the San Marcos Medical Offices. Time flies fast and my experience has been rich and rewarding. I started my professional life studying clinical psychology in graduate school, and to this day it nurtures my appreciation for my patients, staff and colleagues. If I can serve to enhance the understanding of self and motivation, the processes of health and the treatment aimed at successful and realistic health outcomes, we have both achieved a worthy goal.
Born and raised in a south Chicago suburb, I attended high school in Michigan and Augustana College in Illinois. I came to San Diego as a graduate student in clinical psychology, ended up taking pre-med classes at UCSD, and then returned to Michigan to attend the College of Human Medicine at Michigan State University. My beautiful wife and I are blessed with a son and daughter who give us joy and keep us grounded. We enjoy mountain trout fishing, a night out with good friends, and travel. I have a lively sister in Reno and wonderful family in Chicago.
Over the course of years, my patients and I have come to know each other pretty well, but we seem to discover something new in our relationship each year. I relish the variety in Family Medicine that allows us to treat the whole person within his or her family dynamics, and allows me to see patients from five to 95 years old in the span of a single morning. It's wonderful to celebrate the health and welfare of the once-young and younger, and heartfelt to share in the challenges that affect the trajectory of a stable health path. I see myself as your health advisor; I work for you and with you to help motivate each of us to be our best. In my role as Physician in Charge at the San Marcos Medical Offices, I share administrative duties within the Primary Care Department to help ensure our clinic offers the utmost in quality and personalized care within a large, friendly campus. We want to make your day.
I love the outdoors and wish I spent more time there! I have had plenty of quality time with several sports and workout routines, and this spurs my interest in physical activity. Currently, I play in a men's soccer league. I have an abiding interest in tai chi, the meditative martial art, and we have introduced it here at the San Marcos Medical Offices thanks to one of our senior members age 89 (and looking 20 years younger). I highly recommended it to relieve stress, and improve coordination, balance, and outlook. Among our more elderly or disabled members, it can reduce fall risk. Please come and join us!
