Acerca de mí
Hello, I’m Dr. Malveaux, a physician who specializes in physical medicine and pain management in Kaiser Permanente’s Lancaster office. My role is to help members find the highest quality of life possible by effectively helping them to manage chronic pain after all other treatment options have been exhausted.
I began my career studying to be a physical therapist. During my undergraduate studies in PT, I found I wanted to have more control over developing treatment strategies for my patients. After researching the options and evaluating my own capabilities, I decided to become a doctor specializing in physical medicine. I was admitted to Howard University College of Medicine. I then went on to complete my internship and residency in New York. I concluded my fellowship training at the Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City. My wife’s residency at UCLA brought me to California. The opportunities offered by Kaiser Permanente were attractive and intriguing, so I joined the organization in 2013.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
My patients are usually referred to me by their primary care physician or another specialist such as an orthopedist or rheumatologist, after they’ve done their best to address the underlying cause of the pain. My job is to evaluate the situation and recommend new treatment strategies, which may have a real impact on relieving a member’s pain, allowing the individual to enjoy a more active lifestyle. I encourage all my members to eat a healthy diet and get sufficient sleep. Both of these factors can have a significant impact on how your body manages pain. We also look at other stress factors in your life, which may complicate matters. Finding unity in mind, body and soul will help you achieve a great deal more than you might imagine.
Cómo vivo bien
I have a love/hate relationship with golf. I enjoy playing it very much. In fact, one day I’d like to be able to play at tournament levels. But it is also very frustrating. My swing does not always behave itself, so the ball goes to places I had never intended. My wife and I enjoy working out together and hiking. We also have a puppy who seems to be training us, instead of the other way around.
