Acerca de mí
Hello, I'm Dr. Lam, a hospitalist for Kaiser Permanente, serving the Antelope Valley. As a hospitalist, I treat patients during their hospital stay. Working with your primary care physician and other members of the Kaiser Permanente team, I develop a plan of action to help you recover from your injury or illness as quickly and fully as possible.
It was in high school in Florida where I first discovered my interest in medicine. I enjoyed my science classes, biology in particular. My grandfather was a physician and four of my uncles are also doctors, so I had been around the medical profession throughout my childhood. I was fortunate enough to attend Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston and went on to complete an internship and residency at Texas Tech Medical Center. I also served as a resident in pathology at New York University's Medical Center. I joined Kaiser Permanente in 2002 and appreciate the organizations focus on evidence-based medicine. We try to treat patients with practices and procedures which have proven to be effective. The way Kaiser Permanente treats both its patients and physicians has also impressed me.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
Many of the patients I see in the hospital have complex problems which are challenging to treat. I always do my best to help these patients and their families understand the recommended course of action, their likely length of stay, and their prognosis for the future. I encourage patients to ask questions, keep an optimistic attitude, and take an active role in their treatment plan.
Cómo vivo bien
Finding a good balance between my work and outside life is important. I enjoy playing with my children, traveling, and reading about current events in magazines and newspapers. I also try to eat well and exercise regularly.
