Acerca de mí
Hello! I'm Dr. Bill Ran Luo (pronounced Low). Welcome to my Web page. I'm happy to have this chance to introduce myself to you and tell you about my work as a general surgeon and as a physician at Kaiser Permanente. It's important and helpful that you feel comfortable and connected with your surgeon, and I hope this page will help you start to get to know me.
I was born in Guangzhou, China and came to the United States when I was five. I grew up in Southern California and eventually attended UCLA where I graduated with a major in neuroscience and a minor in classical civilization. It was at UCLA while volunteering in the hospital and for student health services that I discovered my passion for healthcare. I attended medical school at UC Davis, where I met my wonderful future wife. We decided to move to Chicago and brave the cold for residency at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. After five wonderful years in Chicago we moved back to San Diego to be closer to family. I completed a fellowship in minimally invasive surgery at UC San Diego, and am now delighted to be part of the Kaiser Permanente family. I am fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese and proficient in Spanish, and am delighted to both share my culture and learn about my patients' cultures.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
Healthy living and preventive care are the best ways to stay healthy, but sometimes unexpected health issues arise that require surgery. I hope to be able to guide you through what may be a difficult process and am here to help both you and your families in any way possible.
Cómo vivo bien
I thrive by spending quality time with my family and friends when I am outside the hospital. I believe the mind and body are linked so exercise is important to help with stress and keep me happy. I swim at least two to three times a week and the days in between I enjoy running, biking, hiking, and Ashtanga yoga.
