Acerca de mí
Hello! I am Dr. Nichole Hansen-Cruz. Your relationship with your primary care physician is incredibly important, and I believe that everyone should feel comfortable with their doctor. I hope this brief biography about me will help you get to know me and decide if I am the right physician for you.
I am originally from the Midwest and grew up in a small town in rural Michigan. While the tranquility and beauty of the Great Lakes will always be in my heart, I have traveled and lived many places in the US and have carried a piece of each place with me. After completing bachelor’s degrees in Piano and Biochemistry, I worked in New York City performing research on genetics and cancer. I realized then that I wanted to be a doctor. I completed medical school in Washington, DC, and decided to switch coasts to complete residency in sunny San Diego. My husband and I have absolutely loved living here and can’t imagine ever leaving this wonderful city.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
Being a marathon runner, I believe that regular exercise and healthy eating habits are essential to living your best life. In family medicine, a large focus is preventive care, and I strive to instill that in members in hopes of stopping preventable diseases before they start. As a family physician, I love seeing members from all ages, from newborn babies to their great-grandparents and everything in between. I hope to partner with members in their health journeys and make sure they know I am on their team.
Cómo vivo bien
When I’m not working or volunteering as medical staff at races, I find myself running my own races, hiking/camping with my husband and dog, or playing piano. I also try to set aside time to relax at the beach with a good book. My areas of interest within family medicine are global health and wilderness medicine. I have been on many volunteer missions abroad and hope to continue this practice to bring medicine to those in need around the world. I also enjoy teaching and hope to influence the new minds entering the medical field.
