Welcome to my Web page. I am happy to have this chance to introduce myself to you and tell you about my work as a hospital physician at Kaiser Permanente. I am an internal medicine physician and have practiced for more than 10 years at Kaiser Permanente. In 2001, I made the transition from an office-based practice into a role as a hospital physician here at San Diego Medical Center. I’m fortunate to work here because of the wonderful colleagues and members. I look forward to helping you care for your health.
I was born in the beautiful country of Burma, now known as Myanmar. My family immigrated to the United States when I was in junior high. I completed my undergraduate studies at UCLA and attended Vanderbilt University for my medical studies. I fell in love with San Diego while completing my internal medicine residency and have lived here since then. Even when I was a young child, I knew that I wanted to be a doctor, in part because I wanted to help my grandmother who had gone blind due to a lack of access to medical care. With this inspiration, I entered into the field of medicine to make a difference in people’s lives and to help others who did not understand the medical system or could not speak English well.
Being a hospital physician, I am here to help you recover from your illness. Hospitalized patients often become overwhelmed not only by their disease but also by the myriad of medical treatment options, evaluations, and the hospital setting itself. To ease this process, I believe in strong, open patient/physician communication. I try to help patients understand what concerns them, translate what they may not grasp, facilitate getting them the appropriate evaluations, and communicate with them and their families. I also believe that recovery from an illness takes a team approach and that the crucial component is the patient, who must actively participate to achieve this recovery.
My family life is my major priority and I treasure every family moment I have with my husband and my young children. I enjoy taking family trips to amusement parks, helping my children with their soccer and baseball teams, being actively involved in my children’s school and PTA functions, and spending quiet time at home with my family. To keep myself well, I enjoy hiking and running on treadmills. I also love doing scrapbooks.
