Acerca de mí
Welcome to my Web page. It is my pleasure to have this opportunity to introduce myself.
I was born in Los Angeles, the son of a physician. I find the practice of medicine a unique opportunity to make a difference in people's lives and remain intellectually challenged. I have practiced bone marrow transplantation for over 30 years and derived immense satisfaction from seeing patients with fatal diseases undergo a successful transplant and achieve a cure. Unfortunately, I've also seen many patients who succumbed to their illness or complications of the transplant and therefore am deeply interested in shared decision making to ensure that we offer this treatment to the right person at the right time in the right venue.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
Currently, my role is mainly administrative. I am responsible for overseeing the quality, service, access and performance of the transplant teams and promoting best practices to achieve the best quality in the most efficient manner possible. I am the director of transplantation for Kaiser Permanente in Southern California. In this role, I oversee the solid organ and stem cell transplant program for our organization. Approximately 550 Kaiser Permanente members undergo kidney, liver, heart, lung, or bone marrow/stem cell transplants yearly. We partner with carefully selected external transplant centers in Southern California where the transplants are performed. There is a wide range of Kaiser Permanente subspecialty physicians who provide the pre- and post-transplant care. Our outcomes are tracked closely and we have achieved results compatible with national standards in all transplant areas.
