Acerca de mí
Welcome, and thank you for visiting my Web page. I am a board-certified thoracic surgeon at Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center on Sunset Boulevard.
I grew up in the Bay Area but left California for college, medical school, and residency. I am happy to be back in the Golden State, near my family and my wife's family. I went to college and medical school at the University of Michigan (Go Blue!). I completed my general surgery training at the University of Pennsylvania and my cardiothoracic training at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical School. During my time in Boston, I also obtained a master's degree in public health from Harvard. I completed my training and began practicing thoracic surgery in 2002. Initially, I joined Brigham and Women's Hospital as a staff thoracic surgeon with a faculty appointment at Harvard. I then returned to California and joined Kaiser Permanente in 2006. My wife and I have three boys who keep us very busy. In the little spare time I have, I enjoy golf, skiing, and going to the gym.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
I perform surgery on diseases of the lungs, esophagus, pleura, and mediastinum. I perform both open and minimally invasive operations. Examples of minimally invasive operations that I perform include video-assisted lobectomy for lung cancer, minimally invasive esophagectomy for esophageal cancer, laparoscopic surgery for gastroesophageal reflux disease and achalasia, and video-assisted sympathectomy for hyperhidrosis. I also have experience performing surgery for mesothelioma, specifically pleurectomy and extrapleural pneumonectomy. I work very closely with the pulmonologists, oncologists, and radiation oncologists to formulate an optimal treatment plan for cancer patients. One of the reasons I came to Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles was the opportunity to teach residents. There are always at least two residents who work with me to perform surgery, take care of members in the hospital, and evaluate members in clinic.

I thrive by going to the gym, working to fix my slice, spending time with my kids, and reading the newspaper.
