Acerca de mí
Welcome to my web page, I'm glad to have the opportunity to introduce myself.
I grew up in the Midwest and completed medical school and my residency in psychiatry at the University of Cincinnati. I then completed a research fellowship and Master of Public Health degree at the University of Washington. I held faculty positions at the USC, the University of Washington, and UCLA, where I divided my time between clinical practice and research that focused on improving the delivery of depression care to disadvantaged patients. Prior to coming to Kaiser Permanente, I led a clinic at the West Los Angeles VA Medical Center that provided primary care and mental health services to homeless veterans. I joined Kaiser Permanente in 2016 to devote myself to full-time clinical practice. I enjoy working in an organization that is devoted to improving the overall health and well-being of its members, and that integrates all care, from primary care to mental health care, under one umbrella.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
I enjoy getting to know my patients and understanding their goals and values. I like to engage each patient as a partner in his or her treatment and recovery. I am lucky to work in collaboration with an outstanding team of nurses, therapists, and case managers; when needed my patients and I may also consult with other Kaiser Permanente providers. The path to healing and well-being often includes many components, including feeling heard and supported, learning to manage stress, taking care of one’s physical health, learning new ways to manage unhelpful thoughts and behaviors, and, when appropriate, the use of psychiatric medication. I enjoy educating my patients about their treatment options so that they can choose those that will work best for them.
Cómo vivo bien
I enjoy spending time with my family, baking, sewing, hiking, and watching classic movie musicals.
