Welcome to my Web page. I hope that it helps you to learn a bit about me and my philosophy of providing neurological care to my members.
A lifelong resident of Southern California, I was born and raised in Huntington Beach, then moved to Los Angeles for my undergraduate studies at UCLA. After graduating summa cum laude with a dual major in biochemistry and neuroscience, I remained at UCLA for medical school. While still living in West Los Angeles, I did my internship in internal medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and then returned to Westwood for my residency in neurology at UCLA. Interested in pursuing further training in clinical neurophysiology, I came back to Orange County in 2004 for a fellowship at UC Irvine Medical Center. I joined Kaiser Permanente in 2006 and also served as volunteer clinical faculty at UC Irvine, as well as an attending neurologist in the neuromuscular disease clinic from 2006 to 2013. I live in Irvine with my husband. When I'm not working, I enjoy running, reading fiction, watching movies, and spending time with family and friends.
As a general adult neurologist, I am interested in the full range of disorders of the nervous system (brain, spinal cord, and nerves), but I am especially interested in neuromuscular disorders (such as peripheral neuropathies and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis). My work includes performing neurological diagnostic tests (nerve conduction studies and electromyograms) and evaluating and treating members with neurological disorders. I believe that the best medical care requires an understanding of the interplay of the biological, psychological, and social factors that together shape the course of health problems in the individual member. Proper diagnosis, and thus proper treatment, requires open and clear communication between doctor and member. I endeavor to work in partnership with my members to understand their illnesses and to implement the best care for neurological conditions based on the most current research.
I strive to achieve balance in my life. I try to stay healthy through a combination of running, Pilates, yoga, and training with light weights several times a week. Also, I try to make time to relax by reading a novel, watching a movie, or just spending time with family and friends.
