Acerca de mí
I’d like to share a bit about myself, my pediatric practice, and why I consider it a privilege to work with you to care for your children.
I’m the third of six children—four boys bookended by two girls—born and raised in a small Iowa town on the banks of the Mississippi River. As a young boy, I delivered newspapers for spending money, and by the time I was in junior high school, I’d saved enough to buy a horse (back then, you could buy a good Quarter Horse for $250). I developed a great appreciation for the outdoors and the responsibility that comes with caring for a horse. I went to college at Stanford University and then The University of Arizona in Tucson for graduate school and medical school. I returned to California to complete my pediatric residency. My love of science made a career in medicine a natural choice, and its challenges and rewards promise to engage me for the rest of my life.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
I get a kick out of meeting newborns and their parents in our hospital’s Family Centered Care facility and in watching these infants grow into teenagers and young adults. My pediatrics colleagues and I work together to try to provide high-quality care for your children. I hope to be your partner in seeing that your children grow to be as healthy and accomplished as they can be.
Cómo vivo bien
I once enjoyed running, but my knees have not shared my enthusiasm for the sport. In fact, shortly after I started working with Kaiser Permanente in Orange County, I suffered a serious knee injury. Luckily, I had excellent care, from the Emergency Department to surgery to rehabilitation with Kaiser Permanente physical therapists. Having experienced both the care receiver and caregiver sides of medicine, I am convinced that the healthier each of us strives to be, the healthier our communities will be.
