Welcome to my Web page! I’m excited to be a member of the family medicine team at Ontario Medical Center, and I look forward to meeting you and your family.
I grew up in a small town in Idaho and joined the Air Force immediately after graduating high school. After being honorably discharged from the military, I went to community college, thinking I wanted to be a veterinarian. After transferring to the University of Idaho, I decided I needed more time to make my choice for my life’s career; so instead, I earned a master’s degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, and microbiology. While working at the Mayo Clinic, I had the privilege to shadow some amazing doctors and realized that medicine was my calling. Soon after, I attended medical school at Western University of Health Sciences and finished a residency at Kaiser Permanente’s Fontana Medical Center.
I believe the best health outcomes are achieved through a team effort. The members of that team are me, the nurses and medical assistants, pharmacists, and you! A vital aspect of my job is making sure you understand everything about your health, treatment options, and directions for preventive care. I hope to never “tell” my patients what they should or should not do, but instead have a conversation that involves their goals and concerns. I believe the key to successful health care is patient participation.
I’m a little embarrassed to admit that I let stress from my career and life sometimes get in the way of my well-being. Does this story sound familiar to anyone else? However, now that I have been so honored to work for Kaiser Permanente, I realize I need to put my health higher on my priority list. Now I routinely do exercise rigorously to workout videos, go on power walks, and just generally try to get out more. I’ve also realized I actually quite enjoy cooking, so I’m experimenting with more healthy recipes. I hope to live by example and maybe inspire a patient or two.
