I am glad to have this opportunity to introduce myself and tell you about my practice. I am a board-certified physician in developmental-behavioral pediatrics, which focuses on children with developmental disorders or delays. At Kaiser Permanente, I feel privileged and fortunate to be working with families and our health care teams to attend to the developmental care of our children.
I grew up in the culturally diverse country of Singapore. I came to the United States for undergraduate studies at Johns Hopkins, followed by medical school at the University of Chicago. During pediatric residency, I came to realize how a child's well-being and their parents' emotional core are closely tied to the child's development and behavior. I was a faculty member at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine for 10 years, and I was medical director for the UCLA Intervention Program for Children with Disabilities. My current work at Kaiser Permanente allows me to focus on clinical care, working with you and your family.
My main area of clinical interest is developmental delay and disorders in children, including autism spectrum disorders, cognitive/intellectual problems, speech/language impairments, and the effects of prematurity on development and learning. My role includes collaborating with families and other health care providers to evaluate your child's developmental skills, determining strengths and weaknesses in the developmental profile, and helping formulate plans to further your child's development.
I stay balanced by keeping pace with my wife and two children. I stay involved in their social spheres, and we enjoy outdoor and recreational activities together. Admittedly, achieving balance in diet, physical exercise, and rest is easier said than done, but we always find a happy medium to lessen stress and remain healthy.
