Acerca de mí
Welcome to my Web page! I hope you find it helpful and informative. I know that seeing a new doctor can cause a lot of anxiety and apprehension, especially if you might need surgery. Let me assure you that I’m here to make your visit as pleasant as possible and to give you the most current, accurate, and helpful recommendations about your condition that I can.
I grew up in central Illinois in a town called Decatur. My dad was a general surgeon there for 30 years, so I guess that's where I got the "doctoring bug." I went to college at the University of Notre Dame and I'm a die-hard Irish fan—even during our less-than-stellar seasons. After graduation I attended medical school at Southern Illinois University, and then completed my general surgery residency at the Grand Rapids Medical Education and Research Center in Michigan. I moved out to Los Angeles and joined Kaiser Permanente in September 2006. I've been enjoying Southern California ever since.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
I am a board-certified general surgeon and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. I’m trained in all aspects of general surgery. I perform both open and laparoscopic procedures, but I have a special interest in breast surgery, and surgery of the thyroid and parathyroid glands. I’m lucky to be part of a very talented and collegial group of surgeons here at our West Los Angeles Medical Center. From the receptionists to the nurses to the residents and physician assistants, everyone works together in the surgery department to make your experience the best it can be.
Cómo vivo bien
To me, living well means having not just a healthy body but also a healthy mind and heart. When I'm not working, I like to run, hike, travel, play tennis, golf, do yoga, and hang out with friends. I also enjoy reading and relaxing at the beach. I think it's important to take time each week to give thanks for one's blessings. For me, going to church each week is important as well. And, of course, I don't smoke!
