Hello! My name is Dr. Karissa Paul. I have wanted to be an optometrist since the seventh grade, and I couldn’t be more pleased that I stuck to this decision. I love what I do, and nothing makes my day better than helping and caring for members!
I was born and raised by the most wonderful parents in North Dakota. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of North Dakota and then moved out to California to pursue my dream to become an optometrist. I attended the Southern California College of Optometry and am grateful for the education I received there. I did the majority of my clinical rotations at a military base and VA facilities, and I want to thank all of you servicemen and women for all you do for our country! For 8 years after graduation from optometry school, I worked in private practice and have now been with Kaiser Permanente since the summer of 2014. In my spare time, I enjoy being with friends at the beach or pool, reading, and any physical activity outdoors! I’m always open for a new challenge and adventure.
Here at Kaiser Permanente, we all work together to make sure members know and feel they receive high-quality care from the minute they check in to the completion of the exam and glasses purchase. As a doctor, I have the pleasure of being able to work closely with colleagues and classmates who go above and beyond to treat every single one of you! Because of this, I am grateful to call Kaiser Permanente my employer! When it comes to vision exams, I enjoy seeing members of all ages—and hold a special place in my heart for the pediatric members.
To stay healthy and fit, I try to remain active daily by either running, hiking, biking, or going to the gym, where I have a personal trainer who helps keep me motivated. My motto that I try to live by each day is that "You can't harm your eyes by looking on the bright side of things." I look forward to meeting you!
