Welcome to my Web page. I am happy to have this chance to introduce myself to you and tell you about my work as a physician and physician administrator at Kaiser Permanente. I am a diagnostic radiologist and have practiced at Kaiser Permanente San Diego Medical Center since 1988. From May 2000 to June 2014, I assumed an administrative role as chief of diagnostic imaging. I currently work two days a week at Zion Medical Center as a partner emeritus.
I was born in South Africa. After medical school, I completed an internship and then worked as a senior house officer at Groote Schuur Hospital in beautiful Cape Town, where the first human-to-human heart transplant was performed. I then briefly practiced as a family physician before deciding to come to the United States for additional residency training. I trained in Boston at Harvard Medical School, studying internal medicine, and then transferred to New York University to pursue a residency in the dynamic field of diagnostic radiology. Following board certification, I moved to the West Coast to complete an additional radiology fellowship at USC.
The diagnostic imaging department at Kaiser Permanente San Diego Medical Center is notably large, with over 400 staff members, including physicians, nurses, technologists, and clerical staff. We provide comprehensive, quality screening, diagnostic imaging, nuclear medicine and interventional radiology services to Kaiser Permanente members throughout San Diego County.
I believe in the Kaiser Permanente philosophy of a healthy lifestyle and keeping a balance in work and family life. Although I enjoy my professional life, relaxing with my wife and two daughters is also very important to me. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, music, traveling, and photography.
