Acerca de mí
My name is Dr. Joseph Kahwaji. Many people call me Dr. K. I’m happy to share some professional and personal information about myself. Hopefully, this page will make our first meeting more enjoyable.
I am a native Angeleno and actually grew up a couple of miles from the Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center. Many of my friends and their parents were Kaiser Permanente members. I have a large, close-knit family. I am very involved with my children’s’ school and other activities. My interest in medicine started at a young age after learning that my mom’s dear friend, who was like an aunt to me, was receiving kidney dialysis. I worked for a kidney transplant center after finishing my undergraduate degree at USC, and that is where I learned about the transformative power of transplants, which inspired me to become a specialist in kidney transplants.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
While I am a specialist in kidney transplantation and glomerulonephritis, I also see members with all kinds of kidney diseases. My goal is to guide members along this journey and to educate them about their health so they can be empowered. I believe in a complete team approach to medical care. The team consists of not only me and the member but also the nursing staff and the member’s family, as well as other physicians.
Cómo vivo bien
I believe in a balanced approach to life. I enjoy supporting my kids’ educational and extracurricular activities, which include soccer, T-ball, and music. I stay active by running, playing tennis, and skiing. My wife and I are big music fans and love seeing bands and the Los Angeles Philharmonic live. Our favorite venues are the Hollywood Bowl and the Greek Theater. We often get together with our parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews, which makes life a lot of fun.
