Welcome to my Web page. I am happy to have this chance to introduce myself to you and tell you about my practice. I feel very fortunate to work at Kaiser Permanente because of my wonderful colleagues and patients, and look forward to working with you to care for your health.
I am a native Californian, born and raised in Sacramento, California. I knew from an early age that I wanted to enter the field of medicine. I spent time during my undergraduate years at UC Davis as a volunteer translator in a public health clinic, and also pursued research interests in immunology and metabolism. I spent time during medical school organizing the Mission Neighborhood Health Fair for homeless patients in the San Francisco area. While volunteering to organize the health fair, I met my future wife and we were married several years later. I also have enjoyed volunteering my time and in the past I have volunteered at health fairs and medical clinics, worked on food drives and periodically volunteer as a supervising physician at the VA Medical Center in the endocrinology clinics. I also frequently give educational talks to residents, fellows, mid-level practitioners, nurses, and physicians.
Our endocrine practice focuses on all areas of general endocrinology, pituitary, adrenal, thyroid, calcium and bone metabolism, osteoporosis, male and female hormone disorders, neuroendocrine tumors, diabetes, and pancreatic hormone related disorders. I am currently physician champion for the Osteoporosis Healthy Bones program and co-manage the high risk diabetic clinic. I maintain a volunteer faculty appointment at UC San Diego and supervise medical students, resident physicians, and endocrinology fellows in my clinical practice at Kaiser Permanente and at the San Diego VA Medical Center.
I have always tried to incorporate physical activity into my lifestyle to help maintain a balanced life and I enjoy weight lifting, jogging and cycling and taking walks with my wife and children. When I am not caring for patients in the clinic, I spend time with my wife and three daughters, taking walks at the zoo or park, mountain biking or going to the gym.
