Welcome to my Web page! I'm glad to have the chance to introduce myself and share some of my background with you. It's very important that you feel comfortable with your physician, and I hope this page will help you get to know me.
Born in Hong Kong, raised in Canada, and now living in the United States, I come from a diverse background and have developed an understanding and appreciation for different people from different cultures. After my undergraduate studies at Brown University, I studied medicine at UC San Diego. During my medical studies, I developed a particular interest with vision and the eyes. The eye is responsible for much more than just vision, and provides clues to many health conditions. I completed my residency training in ophthalmology, as well as fellowship in glaucoma at UC San Diego. I have a wide range of clinical and surgical interests, including cataracts, glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy. I have done research and published in medical journals. Just as important as the medicine, is my role as a compassionate source of hope and comfort. I understand that being entrusted with your care is a tremendous privilege and honor.
When I’m not seeing patients, I enjoy spending time with my wife exploring Southern California. In particular, we constantly look for new restaurants and culinary delights. We also love to play tennis and stay active. I firmly believe in Kaiser Permanente's philosophy of total health, which considers all aspects of a person's state of being: body, mind, and spirit, and try to live it in my life every day.
