Acerca de mí
Hello, and welcome to my Web page! I am happy to tell you a little about myself and am honored to be involved in your family’s care.
My dad was in the United States Navy for over 25 years. I was born in San Diego and have lived throughout the United States and Asia. As a result, I have a deep respect and appreciation for all cultures and life experiences. Every member has a family and a community that depends on them. I am honored to practice medicine and be given the opportunity to educate and empower individuals to prevent, treat, and cope with chronic disease. I pursued additional training in geriatrics because older adults have so much wisdom, yet medical, psychosocial, and cognitive issues can complicate their care. As an assistant clinical professor at the UCLA School of Medicine, I’m also passionate about medical education. I am currently the associate program director of the geriatric medicine fellowship at Kaiser Permanente’s Los Angeles Medical Center and participate in multiple diversity and inclusion initiatives including Clinician Patient Communication and LGBT Health.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
I am board certified in internal medicine, geriatric medicine, palliative medicine, and hospice care. I am part of the Department of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine, so I take care of our members after they leave the hospital and become short- or long-term residents in skilled nursing facilities. I also provide care to members suffering from life-limiting diseases in the hospital or at home. I use my expertise in contributing to medical education, and I assist in coordinating teams and systems in issues such as transitions of care. I am also involved in evaluating individuals with cognitive disorders and dementia. Some of my goals for members are preserving their function and contributing to healthy aging. I also focus on quality-of-life issues and assist families and members during the end of life. My practice gives me a holistic, whole-person view of health care.
Cómo vivo bien
Family and friends only enhance one’s life, and nurturing these relationships is a priority. I make sure to balance work with personal growth. I enjoy doing a core strength and conditioning program, photography, visiting Disneyland, going to live performances (opera, musicals), travelling, and spending time with my husband, friends, and family. Los Angeles is a great city to live in and explore.
