Acerca de mí
Hello, and welcome to my web page. I am happy to have this opportunity to introduce myself to you and to tell you about my practice.
I was born in the Virgin Islands and was raised in North Carolina. I returned to the Caribbean after completing undergraduate studies in Environmental Science and Spanish to volunteer with the U.S. Peace Corps. While in the Dominican Republic, I served as an interpreter for visiting physicians and surgeons, and as a result, I decided to earn a medical degree when I returned to the United States. I continued my education in North Carolina at Wake Forest University School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, where I also completed an internship in Internal Medicine before joining Summa Health System in Northeast Ohio for ophthalmology training.
Acerca de mi práctica médica
I was drawn to ophthalmology for a number of reasons. Prior to medical school I knew I wanted to pursue a specialty that involved surgery and procedures. As a comprehensive ophthalmologist, I diagnose and treat, both medically and surgically, disease of the eye and surrounding structures. Routine eye exams for people with conditions such as diabetes is another part of my practice. I feel fortunate to be able to practice ophthalmology as part of the Kaiser Permanente team.
Cómo vivo bien
Spending time outdoors with my family is an activity I greatly value. Travel, basketball, music, and comedy are also favorite pastimes of our household. In addition, I enjoy volunteering both domestically and internationally. During residency training in Ohio, I was active in a clinic that provided services for uninsured patients. Recently I traveled to Haiti as part of a team that provided vision screening and eye care for people in Bonne Fin. I thrive by being of service to others and by spending time with friends and family.
