Hi, and welcome to my Web page! I hope this information helps you get to know me. I look forward to working with you and your children to make your inpatient pediatrics experience go as smoothly as possible.
Being a kid at heart, I’ve always been drawn to pediatrics. Kids run around, play, and generally have lots of fun—something we'd all like to do. When kids are sick, though, they make sad faces and the fun stops. What’s especially rewarding about taking care of sick children is that they generally recover rapidly from an illness and bounce back to being a kid again.
So, what are pediatric hospitalists? We care for children with a wide variety of illnesses and medical needs who require hospital care. The situations we address include infectious illnesses of the blood, skin, lungs, and kidneys. We treat respiratory illnesses such as pneumonia and croup as well as chronic illnesses like diabetes, asthma, or childhood cancers. And, of course, there are the common pediatric illnesses such as influenza and dehydration. Finally, we also care for children who are recovering from injuries or surgeries, or who are newborns. Pediatric hospitalists often assist other pediatricians, family practitioners, general surgeons, and subspecialty physicians in caring for children. We also work closely with the resident physicians, nursing staff, case managers, social workers, and other members of a multidisciplinary team who try to make sure your child is receiving the best family-centered hospital experience we’re able to provide.
I’m a firm believer that an active lifestyle strengthens both the mind and the body. Riding my bike recharges me mentally and physically. Walking my chocolate Labrador Retriever and spending time outdoors with my wife and kids are among my favorite things to do. With what spare time I have, I also enjoy preparing different cuisines from around the world and volunteering for the Painted Turtle Camp—an innovative camp for kids with serious medical conditions.
